We are so pleased with the response to our Turmeric + Sweet Orange Peel concentrate. We listened to our customers who wanted a sugar-free Turmeric and ginger drink which they could dilute and use in a versatile way. Try it in your smoothie, add hot water or milk, and make a nice soothing tea or golden milk, add it to juice or simply take it neat.
The drink just like all Root2Ginger drinks is inspired by our cultural heritage. As a young girl, I remember watching my elders peel an orange in one go with the peel slowly draping down from the orange in a wonderful spiral. I watched this in wonder, I thought it was magical. I gave elders in my family oranges to peel just to watch their skill again and again.
Years later I would visit Jamaica and see sellers in the markets or in busy town squares peeling sweet green oranges for people to buy and enjoy on the spot. Why not see if you can peel an orange like a Jamaican using a knife to get that perfect spiral; practice makes perfect, do the orange peel challenge, and post
it to our Instagram.
In our home, my parents would often hang a piece of orange peel in the kitchen, and we would watch it dry for several days before seeing them put it in a cup of hot water for tea along with whatever else they chose to add. As children, we turned our noses up at their ‘concoctions’ when we were ill but now we are learning what they knew and said all along…..’ drink it, it’s good for you’!
Orange peels are a rich source of vitamin C and contain at least twice as much vitamin C as
the inner fruit. Boosting our vitamin C reduces our chances of catching coughs and colds as they are a natural antioxidant.
For the love of Orange
Orange peels contain pectin which prevents constipation and improves the health of our digestive system. Poor digestion can increase our chances of infections. The peel contains lots of fibre which helps food move through your intestines smoothly. So having good gut health is important for greater immunity.
